Hunter Wimmer has over two decades of experience in translating strategic business objectives into innovative, relevant visual solutions.
As Design Director for IDEO, he broadened his scope by bringing a unique perspective on user-centered research and multi-disciplinary collaboration into the overall design process. Through his work with Gap Inc. and as Design Director of Banana Republic’s Marketing team, he discovered new insights into branding and consumer messaging which he is able to leverage in both his work and in his teaching.
Hunter is currently the Associate Director of Graphic Design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco where he has both written and taught the mainstay of MFA-level curriculum from second to sixth semesters. Prior to joining Academy of Art University in 2005, Hunter spent several years anchoring the Graphic Design program at the University of California Berkeley Extension (UCBEX) from first to third semesters teaching a broad range of topics.
